MosJazz Festival

Jazz on the Rocks was successfully introduced to Tieties Bay, Paternoster in 2011. The event was an instant success, enabling families’ quality time in the great outdoors. As a result of this success, Jazz on the Rocks will now be replicated in MOSSEL BAY. The Festival is scheduled for March 22 to 25 in the De Bakke Santos Resort.

The line-up will feature some of the top names, in music, in South Africa. The programming formulary also enables international collaboration with South African artistes. Some of the names already confirmed for the inaugural festival are, Judith Sephuma, PJ Powers; Alistair Izobell; Don Veno Pins; Jonathan Rubain; G Minor – Mossel bay based band; The Rockets; Airborne and Karin Kortje – with more names to be announced in early January, filling up a program of over 20 top-notch acts.

While the event essentially harnesses the healing forces of music and nature, social entrepreneurship is at the heart of all Camissa Solutions’ endeavours.

Camissa Solutions is committed to training youth from host communities in all areas of festival design and management. The objective being for them to run the event in future years. It is anticipated that the success experienced in Paternoster will be replicated in Mossel Bay.

‘Our vision is to bring healing to our still fragmented society.’ Says Camissa Solutions CEO, Lovetta Bolters.  ‘Social cohesion is ultimately at the heart of any successes to be achieved. Our mission is for all people to benefit, economically, from our effort, and the expected knock-on effect that tourism will bring. Research shows that the economic impact from the Jazz on the Rocks project in Paternoster amounted to over R800 million in the past 5 years. We anticipate the Mossel Bay project to yield even more economic impact and create jobs.”

Camissa Solutions Co-director Clarence Ford said. ‘March 2018 marks the start of a journey that will bring profound impact to the beautiful town of Mossel Bay. The event itself, will stimulate the fledgling cultural industries of the Southern Cape Coast. Moreover, entrepreneurial development will accrue to especially youth in the region.’

Mr Ford went on to say that, ultimately, nothing is possible without a vision shared by like-minded people and the Mossel Bay Municipality has been very supportive of this effort. The Singer Group, managing agents of the De Bakker Santos Resort, have proven to be a stalwart partner in enabling this watershed event.
